This weekend has been the roughest for my little family. First of all, my husband was tested positive for type A influenza on Saturday night. Type A is the worst type of flu you can catch. Already that was some bad news because we have a one month old baby! That night he ended up sleeping at his parents house while baby and I stayed home. The next morning, baby and I went to see him and wish him a happy Father's day. Well, when I woke up I had a sore throat. The doctors that saw him instructed him to send anyone who feels any type of symptoms to get checked out by a doctor. So, Father's Day was a junk one because he was sick and I was at the doctors all day. Fortunately, for me the results came back negative. We stayed the night at his parents. Then, I started breaking out with the chills and a fever of 101. I felt terrible! Then, the next morning baby had a running nose so we decided to take her in to try and prevent her from getting sick. The nurse took all her vitals and her fever was 101.7. The doctor came in and the first thing he said was "She needs to be admitted to the hospital" My heart just about broke when he told us the news. We had to take her to emergency because the pediatric department didn't have enough room. We checked into emergency and all the things a parent doesn't want their baby to go through was exactly what had to happen. They needed to run a bunch of test including blood test, X-rays, and worst of all a spinal tap. When the doctor said spinal tap my heart just about broke twice! They also had to put her on an IV and it took several times for them to finally get a successful vein. In the end they had to change her IV from her arm to her foot. My poor baby had so many pricks and bruises I just wanted to make it all go away for her. Here is a picture of my brave girl right before they did the spinal tap procedure on her.
Kahula stayed in the hospital over night. Both of her grandpas gave her a blessing. I'm so grateful for the priesthood and the instant comfort that it provides for us all. Her grandma Lori stayed with her over night while daddy and mommy went home to rest and get ourselves better. She was discharged today and is staying with her grandma Lori until we are all well. I miss her so and wish she was in my arms sleeping :)
I love you my brave girl!
